2 HOURS - UPDATED! - For the Gatsby Benchmark Careers Guidelines. 2 hour, fully resourced lesson on writing personal statements. The lesson is divided into two parts, one focuses on personal statements for job applications, the other on personal statements for university or colleges.
Students will firstly investigate what personal statements are, why they are needed and how potential employers (and also university tutors) look through them, before studying excellent and poor examples in detail, then writing their own in three stages using the guidance given.

Hurtful behaviour PSHE Lesson. A one hour-long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS2. In this lesson, the students will discuss different forms of hurtful behaviour including name-calling, spreading rumours, excluding others and the fine line between playful jokes and hurt feelings. In this lesson, the students will discuss the different ways that our online activities can leave a trail of information behind. We will look at the reasons why companies like Google collect detailed information about our browsing habits. NEW PSHE lesson all about what communities are, why they are beneficial to us, how our mental health improves when we become involved in off-line communities and how our mental health suffers when we lose contact with our off-line communities.
Students will investigate different types of communities, how they develop, how they overlap and how they can lend support in time of need. They will also examine the phenomenon of the hikikomoris of Japan, individuals who choose to actively cut themselves off from all off-line communities, and explore the impact this has on their mental health.
This has been written to cover the 2020-24 PSHE guidance on the importance of communities. The lesson will last you at least one hour and is best suited to upper KS3 or KS4.
There are a variety of tasks, from creative to literacy, to clip and analysis. Everything is editable and ready to go.

Students will begin by studying a dubious social media post, before learning all the skills and new terminology they need to take it apart, analyse it and be critical of it through comparison with a variety of credible sources (included).

Risk, dares and online challenges PSHE Lesson. A one hour-long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS2. In this lesson, the students will discuss the concept of risk and risk-taking. We will look at how a small element of risk applies to most everyday activities.
